This Kris Kelly Foundation was founded by Kris Kelly after many years of dreaming of her own Non-Profit to save animals from abuse, slaughter, and neglect. The Foundation is taking an approach to not only work for animals but work for people also.
When Kris Kelly was in 5th grade she read a book for a book report about an old lady and and an old horse. They were friends and spent a lot of time together. Kris remembers her teacher asking her over and over "Why do you think they are such good friends"....as Kris was talking her teacher kept saying "Keep talking...keep talking". Kris finally said "Because they are BOTH lonely and need each other".
This view has kept Kris focused on the well being of our animal friends and a lifetime of dedication to saving them.

The overwhelming majority of the dogs in our program are Pit bulls and Pit mixes. It really wasn't until I personally inherited my first homeless person's pit bull, who was the best dog in the world, that I came to love this breed. My girl "Pink" was one of the most difficult dogs that I have ever worked with due to the fact that she was dog and people aggressive. In fact, she was so aggressive the first month that I had her, she would not allow any of us to touch her. Little by little, she gained trust, and I was priveleged to have this dog in my life for almost three years when she died of a stroke. Now, I have my second pit bull as a result of a homeless man passing away and willing his great dog Petey to me, who is also dog and people aggressive. Again, I am learning more about dog psychology, and realize that often these "problem dogs" come into our lives for a very good reason, to teach us. We as humans need to continue to learn what a dog needs.
Westside German Shepherd Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit group of all volunteers who rescue German Shepherds and place them in qualified homes. German Shepherds are one of the most over represented breeds in the shelters. Shepherds are so intelligent and many people don’t realize they need something to do, they can’t just be left in a backyard. They work hard to make sure they get the appropriate home. Westside German Shepherd is known for the quality of German Shepherds that come through their doors. They placed over 500 dogs last year. Please go to their web-site and see for yourself!
