KUJO !!!

Mongi

KUJO !!! Imagine the worst dog behavior you can and times it by ten. This is the perfect example of how things go bad, when you have a dominant breed and an environment that constantly antagonizes the pet. A friend asked me a favor and to come out and take a look at this dog. His name is Mongi and his ferocity is unbelievable !!! I was shocked to see this animal do his utmost to attack on the end of a chain. I shudder to think what would happen if he got out and attacked an innocent passer-by. He would circle back and lunge forward as hard as he could in order to get just the slightest bit of extra distance and closer to his target. This is the worst case I've seen, and believe me, I've seen some really ferocious animals, especially during my volunteer service with the LADACC. This day gets worse so pay attention. Most people run from dogs like this and stereotype them into what you percieve them to be. WE make our dogs what they are ..... if you have a dog as a puppy and blame breed for aggressive behavior, here's an update ! - YOU'RE RESPONSIBLE ... NOT THE BREED !!!

I first started by watching the behavior of the owner and dog. Mongi responded to what she said but I noticed that when he got agitated, he would even try to bite his owner, or snap as a warning. After wearing him down for a while, I decided it was time to put a leash on him. I had limited resources, but I could see that he was getting more comfortable with my presence. I had his owner put a leash on him and I put another one on for more control. This was a very disturbing experience because it was new to me and I had to be very careful that Mongi didn't strike.

We walked around the yard at first and then took to the streets. Mongi was a transformed dog. He was totally focused on the walk and would allow me to pet him and became comfortable and had an enjoyable experience walking through the neighborhood for the first time. He was left on the doorstep at 4 months and our client kept him, but she was unable to handle him once he got bigger.

As the day went on we discovered that a relative plays aggressive games with Mongi. He became aggressive toward everyone else as opposed to attacking his owners. Playing dominating games with a dog like this isn't recommended. This dog has been aggressive from day one and this behavior has been nurtured so Mongi thinks this is acceptable. This is a disaster waiting to happen.

The dog did attack during the consultation but it was not triggered by the dog, more a sudden response from a person standing next to him

That being said we're not done with Mongi, but if there is anyone out there who can say things never go wrong, they're probably lying. I use this as an example of how badly things can go with the most innocent thoughts. I will continue to strive to help this dog as will my friend. The massive progress that we made in that day proved that we can rehabilitate this guy. At this time we are trying to use every resource at our disposal to get this dog into a facility so we can work further with him to prevent this guy being put to sleep. Never give up on your friends ... never !
